A new look for country selector

The Country selector drop down is… difficult, to say the least. its inweidly large, hard to navigate and to make user friendly. it has many issues that are not easily addressed.

But.. the guys over at Baymard Institute have developed a way around that.

Here is a implementation of a redesign that combines autocomplete and drop down selection, in a way that degrades gracefully. and isn’t just your standard autocomplete. the entire process is handled client side, with no server calls.
